Default 46" Release Citation Striper in the Rapp

Trolled most of the day in deeper water in the Rapp between buoys 8 and 10 Monday. Had good fish marks and some bait balls all day, but not one hit. Ran my usual killer complement of twin bucktails w/4"shad, tomic, stretch 25's and a flat line. Finally decided to run to buoy 6 and troll towards the WSB. Some fish marks, little bait, no hits, getting disappointed... We were 1/2 mile northwest of the WSB when BAM! Thought we snagged the bottom, but the line wasn't coming out at the 2.5 knots we were going, so we thought we were towing a log. My buddy Allen took the rod and the fight was on. Repeatedly diving down, coming to the surface, going left and right. I had let the wheel go and reeled up rods. Allen took 20 minutes to wear her out and get her next to the boat. Got her in the net and 2 of us lifted her in. She was caught on the chartreuse stretch 25.

My buddy Chris (CaptCush) told me 15 years ago to buy the biggest f'ing fish net I could find in any store. Took 15 years, but I finally needed every bit of that huge net.

She was the only fish we caught all day. Had to release because of new regs, less than 36. No meat, but that's okay. I would have hated killing that big fat beautiful girl after the long healthy life she lived, and now she will hopefully breed more. (I still hate this year's regulations!!) Largest fish ever caught on Sea Drive. It was the best fishing day I've had with no keepers. Pic attached. Dennis

    Good talking to you.
Thanks again to you and Allen for helping me get out the ramp in that low water.

Beautiful fish! Last few years have been bleak for me fishing in my rowboat. Only one 21" keeper just before the season ended.

Let's hope these restrictions help, but I have my doubts.
