Default Back to Normal - Midbay Report

Just a quick report to give the encouraging news that there are still fish around in the rivers.

My mother, son, and I ran out yesterday afternoon to snoop around. I had not been out in a week and was not expecting to find much but, to my pleasant surprise, there were birds working all over the place. We found a good looking flock over 40 feet of water and quickly picked off a 26 and 22 incher. I thought was going to be super easy after this start but, for quite a while, we were marking fish but could not catch them. Marking good fish, and many of them, but simply would not bite. I yelled over to some guide who was fishing near me and he couldn't catch them either. Since it was just the two of us we kind of worked the flocks together but both struggled.

I could see birds working miles away with my binoculars but I have a small boat (and good binoculars) and deemed it too far to run to. The guide lost patience and ran off somewhere but we stuck it out, started working shallower, and finally got them to bite in 15 feet of water.

Ended up catching about 15 fish, all keeper size, with three at 28 inches, two at 26 inches and everything else between 20 and 24 inches.

Mom is starting to regret her October proclamation that she doesn't want her picture taken with a fish smaller than 30 inches

    We were all alone

Way to stick with it once you located fish. Biggest fishing mistakes i have made over the years is to leave fish to search elsewhere. Better off experiment til you find combination that will make them bite - in my experience. ACG

Way to stick it out, I love the fact that Mom demands the big fish. Someone has spoiled her!

Nice size rock, big enough to brag on, but not so big they aren't good eating.
