5/26/23 Good Evening a large ball python approximately 8 feet long that was spotted tonight in the vicinity of Vesper Avenue. A Reptile Specialist and Federalsburg Police believe the snake has gone into hiding for the night. If you see the large snake please call 911 and keep track of the snakes location. 911 can relay the information to FPD. You will be updated as more information becomes available.

That is an unusal sighting even by Eastern Shore standards. Ball pythons are the smallest species of the genus and they don't move quickly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_python

I have a Ball Python that I bought as a baby the size of a pencil. I have had it 14 years and it is about 40" long. Ball pythons do not get 8' long.......Gary

Good stuff. Had a friend had a boa constrictor it was cool. But I would never handle it. I liked when he would feed it rats, and mice.

People buy reticulated pythons and Burmese pythons and they get so big that they can't afford to feed them so they let them go outside. Snakes are wild animals and know who they can over power. Mine will stay small and has never bit me. She likes to be held to get the warmth of your body..........Gary

I was doing a heavy up a few weeks ago in a house that backed to the woods. The widow who owned it was in the finished part of the basement and excitedly called out my name and said "I need your help" . I went into that room and she was in the corner and told me a snake came in the room when she opened the sliding glass door. I proceeded to herd the Garter snake out of the room with a broom(fast sucker). I told her they are harmless and help control rodents. She said she didnt care, she hates snakes, and she was going to put the house up for sale and move. I thought she was kidding but she was serious.

My wife is like that. All we see is small Gardner snakes. Occasional black snake all harmless. Used to be a ton of toads around here, hardly see any now. The snakes I guess eat them. Used to have a bunch of rabbits running around, not anymore. High level of cats running around, I assume they took out the rabbits. Oh and the moles f-ing up my yard.

Some people are petrified of snakes and lose their mind if they see one. My buddies girlfriend started screaming when I showed her this picture. She was shaking and ran out of the house over a picture on a phone.......Gary

I'd probably grill them up and make wallets and holsters out of them.
Used to have a red tailed boa. Met my 1st wife and she made me get rid of it. Should have kept the snake.
