A friend of mine works on the yellow perch recreational creel survey, and she is looking for interview points on the South and Magothy Rivers. She's checked out a number of the private community boat ramps. The ramps generally don't have any contact info for the respective communities (except Cape St. Claire), and she doesn't want to trespass. They don't need to launch a boat, but they'd like to be able to see out into the river and interview and anglers after their trip. Due to the survey sampling design, they would probably only be there occasionally during the prime yellow perch season, starting next week and ending in April, I think.

If you think you're community wouldn't mind the creel survey clerks occasionally interviewing anglers, please bmail me the telephone or email info for the HOA or appropriate contact person/people so they can get permission. Any info on launches or ramps that are used heavily would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

In the South River, I know of Oak Grove ( behind Yellowfin) and Pier 7, on opposite sides of the Rt #2 bridge, where people can launch from a public ramp. I don't know what's available in Selby Bay but a suspect there's launching facilities in there somewhere.

On the Magothy you can launch at Ferry Point Marina, also Fairwinds but that's pretty far downriver for perch surveying. I would say Ferry Point could be a prime spot.

Severn has Smith's Marina in Round Bay but I think public access is restricted to sometime in May. Could still be a place to survey marina tenants.

Annapolis City Operates Truxton Park at the head of Spa Creek, but Spa Creek dumps in by the City docks and that agin is far from the headwaters for perch. Also, not the friendliest of areas either.

Thanks for the info, gents. She's been calling the marinas without much luck, but she'll probably make the rounds again in person before the survey starts.
