In my youth I grew up in upstate New York north of Syracuse. We spent many hours on Onieda lake fishing for Walleye and yellow perch. We would venture up to some of the lakes near the Adirondak Mountains and tow the camper out on the ice (some places 3' to 4' thick) spend the week end camping an fishing for Northern pike and MONSTER Musky! My bigest was 44" on a hand line, great fun for a 14 yr old. Many frozen toes and fingers but some of the fondest memories I have been left with of my father and brother! My advise is give it a shot if you get the opertunity, but hire a guide or find a local. It is EXTREME fishing to say the least and require in depth planning to be succesful much like offshore fishing!
