Can't comment on charter fishing. But I did some shore fishing at night on the beach side of the island . small jacks and snapper. Barracuda run off. Tarpon busting bait but no luck on them. Need live bait, use a sabiki or cast net. If cast netting bait them in with bread. Their is a pier bar about 1/2 mile north of Divi Phoenex resort the proprieter likes to fish and invited me to fish from the pier at night he catches big tarpon , Goliath grouper and snook. Worth checking out. If nuthing else stop by and have a beer, bring your fishing gear and talk fishing and you likely wont have a tab at the end of the night. Lol. You can also use the crabs found on the rock jetty for bait. Sneak up on them and hurl a rock , its primitive but works. Saw plenty of smaller tarpon but no luck. Have fun and bring a snorkle and check out the jetty and piers. Also if you have never been trade winds are strong and if you do get a charter keep in mind it will be a bumpy ride. If your bringing your family make sure everyone has sun glasses ,not just for the sun but the wind will wip up the sand pretty good.
