Unfortunately, the Sea Bass change only applies to fish caught in state waters (inside of 3 miles). Hopefully the Feds will follow up and open the EEZs adjacent to the states as well. As the press release states, this was not a permanent change; we need to keep the pressure up to make this permanent.

Wally, thanks for posting this. I was on the conservation forum and had seen the story that Kevin Smith posted. All good info. Hopefully there will be progress made in saving our resources. At the Catchin' for Kids event, Dr. Bob Allen gave an inspiring talk about getting involved. He spoke about all the efforts made through our local fishing clubs and by writing letters to lawmakers.

wow, isn't this the same council that shut down the sea bass fishery in the 1st place with "faulty" data? 37 % in NC, wow.

This is what I find unsettling. Cuts are in the works wasn't just a year or two ago there was consideration for opening up the coastal commercial fishery?

Striped Bass .

Draft Addendum III will propose a range of fishing management measures including, but not limited to,
adjustments to commercial and recreational minimum size (for jurisdictions outside Chesapeake Bay and
Albemarle Sound/Roanoke River), reductions in annual coastal commercial allocation, reductions in
recreational bag limits, revisions to the target F rate (for Chesapeake Bay and Albemarle Sound/Roanoke
River), and reductions on fishing for striped bass in known spawning areas during the spawning season by
at least 50% (for jurisdictions bordering the Hudson River, Delaware River, Chesapeake Bay and
Albemarle Sound/Roanoke River).
