Have a new Avet 50wide that I'm not sure what to spool with yet. Plan to use it on my new Bayrunner Planer rod. Tossing around using spectra hollow core braid instead of mono, with a 100-150' topshot. Need some ideas, what are you guys using?

If your using it as a planner rod I would but on 130# solid jerry brown thats what I have. Use braid 130-200. My set up is tiagra 80w with 100# mono backing then 300yrds of braid on top then hooked up to the planer bridle with 130' of leader to hook bait

I used a buddys 80tw. We had 200lb braid on her using the briddle system 130ft of 130 mono. I would wonder about a 50 as a planer rod though, it all depends on the size of the planer. I have pulled a no 8 sea striker on a tld 50 at 7kts its a little much, Most guys using a real planer rod are pulling a no 24 old salty I could be wrong but that might be out of the question on a 50. But I have no prior knowledge of Avet though.
If anyone has a 80 on a planer rod for sale I'm interested in buying one, would prefer a tiagra

Art I use that exact reel on my planer rod. Mine is spooled with 300 yds of 150 lb PowerPro, then the bridle and finally 130 feet of 150 pound mono to your lure.
