Made the trip this am down to CBBT....John pearce was already there and had planned to bum a ride with him...SteveF was going to meet us there also....phone rang at 2:30am...Steve,,,car troubles...but Steve made it down in the afternoon and will be fishing today....
Man it was almost like a Wed today....
Light boat traffic..(though the parking lot was full)....they were all Eeling.......
We had a NE15 K breeze...strong incoming tide....47* water temp
When the tide slowed down the sun came out it was really nice...than the tide changed again and it got cold...
Made our way over to 9ft shoal...found fish on almost every pilling.....really good quality compared to my last couple of trips.....lots of 26-30" fish......with a few 22-24's mixed in....
On Med action tackle that is a blast.....
Fished the whole day and never made it passed the fourth.....
We guessed that we caught 200 fish with around 40 or more slots....
Had 1 over at 36' and another fish that was 33 7/8".....little too close for comfort so we let that one go....
That was the fattest 33" I have ever seen...We guessed it at around 20-25lbs...think it is in the first pic.....
The other pic is a 36"...has few spots on it...but we think that was from laying the fish on the deck to measure.....
Most of the big fish came from in between the pilings.....I mean we were casting directly behind pilings and sweeping the jig around them...try it with a 1/2 oz jig...
Today there were many times when all 3 of us were hooked up...
(John's friend Mike made it down around noon and we went and picked him up)
Ued 1/2 oz to 1oz jigheads today...using mostly alewive BKD's and purple glitter....
they were also "hotrodded" for extra appeal.........

Today we has lots and lots of bird action but the only quality fish under birds was on the outgoing at 9ft....
Heard of an ocean bite but we figured it was around 20 miles away....:eek2:
There was also this pelican who kept following us from piling to piling...he was getting closer and closer...he was a little hungry.....:D
Man what a great way to end the year.....
Sorry the only pics I have are of me...but I have a 33" minimum on fish pics this time of year........:D
Happy New Year to All....

Thanks for the report and pics. I'm glad Mike made it down. This would be his first Wintertime trip to CBBT.
We were going to go in my boat but I had family obligations this weekend.

Nice report Jamie-

How did you like the Arctic Armor suit? Was it warm enough, too warm, etc. Did you try out its floating capability yet?:D

I will wear mine the next trip down. If they become popular, we will all look alike.

Frank at Fleece Corner handles Arctic Armor now.

Those boats were on the ocean, not at the bridge. I was out with the fleet for a while (only got 2) and then went to the bridge for some light tackle action. Only saw 4 or 5 boats between the 4th and the highrise.
