Here are some pointers, most smallmouth fishing is done in the late fall and early spring , water temps and the flow of water in the Susquehanna are crucial to the smallmouth bite.. Most guides have their spots , but many don't use GPS like bay fishing , they fish structure, Try going to a tackle store in Pa. and get some guides phone #'s and ask them to participate. when there is not enough water flowing in the river the water temp rises effecting the oxygen level, when there is to much rain and the river rises , the runoff from upstream, you have any number of pollutants , which stress the fish. Most of us are aware of the run off of a certain pollutant this past summer linked to the farming community that has devastated the smallmouth.
