Stacey, I guide on the upper Susquehanna mostly spring and fall, I think most of the problems with sick fish pertain to all the runoff from NY and Pa. the river is such a massive watershed that rain pulls farm, city, industrial, etc. runoff . This ends up in the river and come late spring to late summer the water flow is non-exsistent which could cause bacterial explosions due to higher water temps and no constant flushing of the river. River smallmouth live in a harsh enviroment the spawn can be affected by high water, cold water, floods , drop in river levels, etc.. The fishing has declined in the past 4-5 years due to bad spawns and possibly pollution affecting young fish. If you want to contact me my E-mail is [email protected]
