Fished the CBBT on Saturday, and caught fish from 20-32". Nothing over the slot. Kept our limit of 27" fish.

Wednesday, I decided to go north, after hearing reports of bigger fish. Turned out to be true!

Coming out of Solomons, the tide wasn't running well, and only little 18" fish were eating our jigs. Kept moving, and found packs of 20" fish here and there, but only a few here and there.

Finally, Bucky set the hook on one and his rod doubled over, and didn't move. He thought he was snagged, and I yelled, "NO YOU AREN'T!" His rod started to bob slowly, and then it bucked violently, as the fish realized it was hooked. And then the screaming drag came, and the fight was on! He did well, and soon I had both hands in in it's mouth, dragging it aboard.

He wanted it, so we put it in the cooler next to his 21" fish, which really DOES give perspective to how big the larger fish was:

(Sorry about the crummy cell-phone pic, which doesn't have a flash)

We continued to fish the area, but that was the only one there. Moved a little further up into the shallows, and then I felt a solid hit, and soon, I had a virtual twin of the big fish, perhaps an inch smaller. Then I kept a 27" fish, and our limit was done.

The big fish are around. The smaller fish wanted 6" BKD's, but the larger fish both came on my home-made rubber in white glitter. We found them on the edges, where the water goes from 15 to 40'.

Worth the drive north.

Went back out, and did it again, with one bigger than the one in the picture, plus "slot fish". Seems they are straggling in from up north.
