Blackfin bite is off the hook out of Hatteras. Vertical jigging. Crew on Big Tahuna caught 620 pounds of tuna – averaging 29 pounds each. Constant action with tuna, albacore, and amberjack. You must do this before you die!

We'll be down there in a week or two.

Max King and I went back in November, and I have never had as much fun fishing as on that day - 24 fish in 2 hours.

We started out trolling for several hours, and as per usual, we were still skunked, so we decided to try it.

We saw some marks, and it was off to the races. One guy was using a TLD 25 and pulling them up.

I don't think I can troll for tuna again after that experience.

If you have ever done it, jigging for Tuna is the only way to catch them. It makes trolling really boring. Thanks for the report and pics :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

We ran about an hour and a half. Air was warm and the water was warmer; made it hard to come home. Captain Scott is fully rigged up for vertical jigging with the high speed reels, skinny rods, color-coded line, and jigs. Mate Kenny is a master at the jigging technique, which involves cranking the reel and jerking the rod as fast as possible. Definitely want to eat your Wheaties.

scott has it down pat on this vertical jigging (first class act). My son is scott's best buddy. (introduced him to hatteras and he never came back home), also he named his boat. My son and grandson went out with him the sat. After christmas and all their fish were citations and one at 38#'s was 2#'s off the state record. It's the hot setup right now, you need to get in on this.
