I've heard of at least 4 people that have hooked up with some bluefin while trolling for rockfish in the past 4 days and only 1 person landing a fish, the other 3 either were spooled or pulled loose for some reason or another. Has anyone tried fishing for them lately or heard of any being caught recently?

I think I hooked one off damneck a couple of years ago. Started spooling me, then ran at the boat, then pulled a 50 or 60 lb snap swivel apart. Made me a believer in the D type swivel. I was guessing it was a blue because of some radio chatter a few minutes later where a boat landed one. I was in 30 ft of water!

I hooked into 1 this past saturday or at least others think i did. We were 2.5 miles off the Ramada trolling for striper i had a 5 rod spread one of the rods had a red/white stretch 25 WWFB i forgot to put the clicker on like a dumb arse and the next thing i knew 330 yards of 50 lbs of braided line was spooled off in a matter of seconds. I tried to stop it and that is why my thumb has a bandage on it and well the extra 150 yards of mono backing never came off cause the guy at BPS spooled it wrong and it criss crossed with the braid.

kwb23 just doesn't seem to respect the fact that the commercial fish guys pay a lot of money to congresscritters for the priveledge of taking all those fish! It is like they say, "People in Nebraska got a right to eat fish, too!" </sarcasm>
