It's winter, so I figure I'll contribute a bittersweet story. The boat fund has officially been renamed the baby fund. Wife is due end of July . It'll be another year of Ho'ing, but I'm not worried about it because I'm really stoked to be a dad. I haven't been on the board much in the past few months due to school, but I figured I should also throw out a thanks to all who gave me advice about pretty much everything related to buying a boat. You'll be seeing my Ho requests...until July at least. Which does bring me to why I need help - if anyone has any advice on how to get "the pass" after the baby comes, I'd appreciate the heads up. :))

Congrats!! I became a father 8 months ago and it has been awesome. Getting the pass requires making deals and bargains. It involves more creative thinking. SWMBO needs to think you pass up trips all the time so that the times you do go on trips it is the exception. Good luck to you!!

Ahhh yes, the kitchen pass or is it the nursery pass??? Either way- I became a Dad for the first time about 10 months ago, and I fished VERY regularly last season. The key for me is to go during the week- the baby is at the daycare, ane the wife at work... that makes it easy. The only other thing you can go is make deals, and concessions. Pick up some extra chores around the house, (dishes, food prep, grocery store, etc)- ryour wife will need/want/appreciate the help.... and she doesnt need to know about your secret motivation. Dont get me wrong, you will NOT be able to fish as much as you want to, but it should go huge distances in getting you on the water from time to time. Good luck, and Congratulations- Fatherhood... theres no other feeling in the world like it.

Congrats!!!

I had my first a little over a year ago and my second is due in July as well.

The good answer to your question is help out as much as you can right now. This round has been tough on my wife, first baby was easy. She's been telling her friends and co-workers how great I've been at home just letting her rest and bringing her crackers and ginger ale and even taking our boy out so she can rest and try and feel better. But she knows each time she says this it's a debit in the fishing trip column for me.

And you can always go by the advice someone gave me here last year....

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

TIGHT LINES!!

My wife and I have a 7 month old son. I get out fishing by leaving our son with his grandparents or aunts and taking my wife with me. She catches all the fish anyway.

Congrats :clapping2: - little one will change your life , no doubt.

You're way ahead by HOing - you know you got a spot on my boat - anytime.Boats are expensive plus require a lot of care - just like a baby in a way :D.

congrats! I'm a father of an 8 month old and we are expecting again in July! Noone can express to you what its like being a father. it's definitely one of those things you need to experience first hand for you to understand. its like catching your very first trophy striper .. haha.. well not really. If you have family close by, utilize them a smuch as you can haha. I'm lucky my parents live within driving distance and I have every other Friday off from work - this allows me some "me time" for my 101 hobbies.

good luck man, its alot of work but it will turn out to be the time of your life.

Congrats and good job. Being a dad does change your life (not all that bad) You know have someone who will always believe in you. Just think the next boat fund will have to be for that bigger boat for the "whole family" to enjoy there will always be fish and there will always be boats.

Congrats to all you new parents, nothing like parenthood  I raised 2 boys of my own and 2 stepdaughters. My oldest son just turned 31 and is a career firefighter with AACo. I have 3 grand daughters and only one grand son thus far but my youngest stepdaughter is due in August so I'm hoping for another grandson. The gals out number the guys right now 3-1  Take it from one who knows the passes don't get any easier to come by as the kids get older, the older they get the more kid activities, bartering becomes more difficult. I found that taking the grand kids fishing once in awhile helps alot, taking the kids earns double bonus points. I took 2 of my grand daughters a couple times last year and really enjoyed it, except for my over protective (Grandma) wife worrying about them getting a hook stuck in them. Can't wait for my grandson to get old enough, he won't be 2 until June. Good luck guys ;-)

Thanks for the advice all - of course, I'm not seriously worried about getting time to fish, the wife is pretty awesome. Skip, Jerry, and others, unless all hell breaks loose at school again this spring, you'll definitely be hearing from me.
