The wife and I are planning a month long trip to Chokoloskee in February(2nd-28th) and plan on spending most of our time fishing. Would anyone be interested in "renting" a boat? Perhaps, you have one up for sale or just won't be fishing.... :helpsmilie:

Sincerely,
Tom

Clarification

We are experienced boat owners; we're just looking so maybe we didn't have to trailer ours and could fly down from DE. We own a bait and tackle business and have 2 months off. Would be willing to reciprocate if you ever visit our area. If you're currently selling a boat; we could rent it for a few weeks. Don't need anything fancy, just looking to fish and explore a little.

Have you fished there before? If you have and know the outs no problem. If not, I'd be very careful with a boat that drafts over 2 feet. The tides there are a pain in the winter, thus far we've been pounded with some very low winter tides, esp. with the east winds. There are a couple outs to the Gulf side, more westerly better then the east. There are hardly no markers for navigation except around the Island. Fl. is not exactly a leader in navigation aids, except in the intercoastal. It's definitely an advantage to go shallow there. Everglades City is a little better marked but there are few public boat ramps left there if any. The boat ramps in Chok. are so/so, nothing great, . The Top Spot Waterproof Charts seem to be accurate on the navigation side, watch the oyster bars.

Thanks

We've decided to trailer the 16' Polar Kraft but thank you, for your suggestions. We will keep the phone number, thanks; but what's the area code? We may decide not to be swamp creatures for a few days! Capt. Frank, no, this is our first trip to Everglades and I'll get the Everglades and 10000 Islands map. Tons more questions will follow...
