My fuel gauge keeps bouncing back to empty, even when the boat is on the trailer and not moving. The fuel gauge still works and shows the proper amount of gas, however it keeps sporadically bouncing back to empty. Any suggestions?
Very likely a corroded ground wire on the sender. If you can get to the sender-try running a jumper wire from the black ( ground) battery terminal to the black of the sender.I'll bet the guage will read correctly.
If it does-just remove and clean the ground wire. You might need to cut the wire back 3-4 inches and put on a new eye.Sometimes corrosion works it's way up a wire.
