What knot do you guys use when connecting braided line to mono backing? I saw a "new" knot in an article by George Poveromo in the March SWS. Has anybody tried that knot? I was thinking I'd use either Uni to Uni or an Albright Special. :helpsmilie:

I always tie a uni to uni becasue it's quick and easy but the Albright is definitely a better knot. What two poundages are you joining and what are you using it for?

Since your not gonne get into your backing while fighting the fish go ahead and use the uni-uni but be sure to put twice as many wraps on the braid as the mono. Also I like to fish a topshot of mono on the braid for abrasion resistance. 10' of 50 should work pretty good.

If you ever think you'll use the mono, I would suggest two nail knots, or a blood knot, since the braid will tend to slice the mono at the joint of a Uni-Uni, and could knock it back to 60% strength, or even less. The Blood Knot

Wrap the braid several more times around the mono to spread out the stress
