I received a large spool of black braided Dacron over the holidays but have never used it. I remember seeing it on a few charters yrs ago, but need help on this one. How does it compare to mono and braid?

Some guys still use it but braid is much better.Dacron is thick like mono so it is better for lines ran shallow.

It has less stretch then mono and will last a long time. Some charters still use it on the WWB rods.

Paul,
I use it as backing on all my trolling rods. Much easier to splice the braid with and it does not break down like Mono as backing. That is a good use for it.

60lb+ dacron makes a great WWWB line because it rides higher than mono. I usuallly have 1-2 Dacron lines out in the Spring, and sometimes in the Fall. I also use it for backing.

We use it for a shallow line, usually the WWWB. Had good luck this winter with an umbrella on a dacron line fished way out on a planer board too.
