they are very pretty birds they are definatly full plumage and they were tagging along with some wild mallards. Do you know the difference between a released mallard and a wild mallard??
to answer your question ,as an advid bird watcher for 25 years of my life and only a duck hunter for two . the birds you have is an inmature fouvlous tree duck probably brought up by the hurricans, rare here but not uncommon, when in doubt dont shoot, and shoot males.: note: the bald head lighter in inmature birds,black beak and long black feet. congrats and good luck. nice bird[grin]
