I just spent the weekend in Ohio, and my friend family told me there is a spot in the spring time where there are so many carp that they lay on top of each other. I didn't even know that there were carp in America. I knew it was big in Europe. Are these the same carp?

Same carp, yup. I went fishing in Ohio many years back in a SMALL stream 3feet wide and little water with a few holes. my cousen helped me to find large 4-6 lb carp in little holes. It was great fun.

There are more common carp in the USA rivers than there are any other fish. They account for the majority of the biomass per fish sampling just about everywhere freshwater and tidal. I've seen them as far down the bay as Kent Narrows and far up smaller streams too. Late spring is their peak spawn. Find flowing water, natural or unnatural blockage and you'll find thousands of pounds of carp. Conowingo dam, locks and dams on the C&O canal, Patapsco River, .... the list is endless.

I have 6 types of carp bait.you are welcome to try them.I can be reached at [email protected] best bait is in your grocery store.Easy to mix and use or just a can of corn will do.Mine are doughballs with a mixture of 4 items.To each his own

They're fresh water "RED FISH" just not palatable.I've never heard of anyone trying'Blackened Carp"You can actually site cast to these with night crawlers.They usually don't bite when they're spawning though.They'll be thrashing along the shore line like Alligators when they spawn.

some people say that you can eat them though. they have hair bones (don't quote me on that) that you can't get around, but carp are actually quite tasty i've heard.
