Sounds like it is ok to fish for Stripers at the CBBT, as long as you release the fish? I thought that it was illegal to possess which meant you could not target Stripers? Once you hook one and bring it to the boat, to get the hook out of it isn't that possession? Anyone want to chime in on this one? :helpsmilie: :wacko: :wacko:

It is illegal to "target" them outside the 3mile line, aka the EEZ. In the bay you may Catch and release them only right now. If you are removing the hook and tossing them back it is not possesion, just the same as if you were measuring them for size in season. You also may catch them in the 3 mile strip along the beach (VA water) and keep, but if you return via the bay you must not stop to fish with stripers in possession.

Just to be safe, if anyone asks tell them you're targeting bluefish but the dang stripers keep getting in the way. ;-)

Dumb question but what does EEZ stand for. I know it refers to the 3 mile line. Only my second season doing any real saltwater fishing and it just keeps coming up.
