The heck with the gun falling, glad it didn't come back and hit your face. Painful way to get stitches (as if there's a non-painful way) embarassing too.
I remember a story in my hunter's safety course 20 years ago about a guy who thought he could shoot a high caliber handgun with one hand. The hammer came back and hit him in the forehead.
I've had scopes hit me in the eye brow from the recoil and gotten a few fat lipes from stocks, and I don't shoot anything near as big as a 308.
