Headed down late Tuesday evening and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Exmore. Launched out of Kipto at 7 am on Wednesday morning. Saw Mr Kimbro at the ramp.

Headed out and started working 4 legged pilings near the fourth island. Picked up a fat 31" on the first drop. After things slowed down we headed over the the ocean side of the fourth and set up some nice drifts that produced fish 21-25". Tried the tube between the 3rd and fourth and it was pretty slow. Picked up one or two, but not what we were looking for. We did see a submarine moving through with a Coast Guard escort.

Got a call from Andy - Grandpafish, Jr and headed over to the 2nd island and had steady picking of fat fish. I hooked into several fish that came unbuttoned when I applied too much pressure. Finally landed one and to my surprise it was a nice 27" Speck. Not sure what she weighed, but was told she was a citation.

We proceeded to the south end of the bridge when we received another call. When we arrived there were acres and acres of birds, but we couldn't find any large fish. Worked them for about 20 minutes and headed back to the 2nd. Met up with Lou - Chumlord and he gave us some eels to try later that evening.

We hit some more birds after meeting up with Lou on the ocean side of the 2nd. Mostly 24-30".

We tried eeling around #4, but we couldn't buy a bite. After all of the activity during the day I think we were a little too impatient with the eeling.

Thursday morning was a 3 hour trip. After launch we headed right to the ocean side of the 4th. Shawn was just leaving when we arrived. The meter was lit up like a Christmas tree and we had a great bite until 11 am when we headed to the barn. Most fish were 22-27". I did manage to hook up with a hard fighting fish that fought much differently than any of the rocks that I had been catching. Strong head shakes and hard runs. To my amazement it was a 26.5" red fish.

I had the lucky rod this trip and landed 2 personal bests of Speck and Redfish. It was a blast down there and I certainly can't wait to get back the week after Christmas.

Good seeing Shawn and crew, Grandpafish Jr, Wild Bill, Pete, Jamie and Chumlord.

Wow. IN December I think that is a little unusual to get a speck like that. Maybe at the hot ditch but at the CBBT, too cool. Congrats.

WTG!

Glad to see a pic of that spec. I was fishing with Jamie and saw you (and Charlie Trophy??) over on the 2nd Tube with Shawn when you told us of your big trout. That is really cool. Then a nice red. Sounds and looks like a very fine trip indeed.

Fantastic, Jimmie. I've been waiting to see the pictures of those fish since you called and told me about them. Great job to both you and your boat captain. You always seemed to be catching whenever I saw you this week. Sure hope we can get together to fish sometime soon.
