Which is better to launch from, Kiptopeke State Park, or the Eastern Shore National Wildlife on the northbound side of 13? I'll be launching a 23'CC. I've been researching the VA State website, from what I read it seems that the State Park charges you just to get in then charges you more to use the ramp? Any first hand exprience would be helpful. Thanks.

Kiptopeke is 8 or 10 dollars to launch depending on weekday or weekend. I would launch there it is a nice ramp. I have heard the other ramp is less protected and can be more difficult to retrieve from.

Kipto is the way to go, if not for the quality of the ramp.....then for the social aspect. There's always TF'ers there wanting to talk fish stories.

The wildlife refuge ramp can be tricky because the current pushes through the channel rather swiftly making it difficult to get the boat back on the trailer. Kiptopeake is protected. Wise ramp is protected from the elements but not from the current.
