Made a one day trip down on Friday and was joined by Ron (One Fish). Left Alexandria at 0545, was at the boat at 0845 and made it out to the bridge about 0945. Called Paul (sorry forgot your board name) who was out with Butch (Capt. Trayt) and Gerald and they were on stacked up fish at the bend between the 2nd and 3rd island so we headed there first. Caught small fish there till we got tired of them and then moved to look for bigger fish. Butch headed to the 2nd and I headed to the 4th. Searched all the usual spots from the 4th to the high rise and found nothing. Butch called on the radio (thanks Butch!) and said he found better fish at the 2nd so we made a bee line there. Spent the rest of the day about twenty pilings from the 2nd catching fish up to 38" although most were in the 24-28" football size. We were in 50' of water with the depth finder showing 35'.there was a solid 15' of fish on the bottom. Water temp was 37.7 in the morning and climbed to a toasty 39.5 by 4:00 when we headed in. Back to Alexandria by 9:00. By far the best day I've had fishing down there this year. The cold water hasn't run them out yet, although it seems they are deeper and more tightly schooled up.
Butch, Gerald and Paul it was nice seeing you guys and talking some trash. Its always a hoot to fish anywhere near Butch and I'm sure there was a lot BS thrown around on that boat. Also met Lee (Reel Addiction?) who was out with his wife and son. It was good to see the little guy catching some nice fish that were almost as big as he was!
