We just got back. Didn't go out there until 4pm. Got there at slack tide....no bites. Fished the high rise (lots of marks) and moved to small boat channels (few marks). Moved to 1st island and found alot of marks, so fished it. Still, no bites. Then, the guy with me whipped out some old twister-tail grubs -- the kind you can stick a rattle in the tail of -- stuck them on some bucktails, and that seemed to get the stripers' attention. We were hookin' them on every cast. Caught 20 or so in no time, before the incoming current really picked up. Caught several slots and one just over, but we didn't trust the yardstick.
Does anybody know where I can still get those twister tail grubs (with the little rattle compartment in the tail)?
