Confession time people. own up.
I have the LD9000 which is also sold as GOLDEN brand.

I bought this 3years ago before for $100 when I first really got keen on fishing and really wanted a reel to handle big fish and spooled it with 24kg. (ha ah ha)
I have only used it on a boat when I spent most of the trip taking the thing apart as when freespooling the spool has so much play against the side of the casing that line slipped in between and tangled in the internals. It is not overfilled, simply a giant gap appears when the drag pressure is disengaged.
So I am pretty good at taking the thing apart now, but generally too scared to use it because I think the drag will fail under pressure.
When I got it spooled the tackle shop uncaringly had a great laugh over the drag setup, which is a oversized pressed metal washer which applies pressure from just a thin edge of the washer to a thin peice of stick on fabric.
Its undeniable 5hit and the worst $100 I have ever spent, especially now when I see what you can buy for around $200 from Cabelas.
Overall I think the people who sell this gear get buy because most of it is hardly used, and it will function OK for a short time without heavy use.
Its live and learn. Each bit of gear I have bought since has progressively been better quality (and more expensive) as I value quality within my budget at the time.
Anyone want to buy a LD9000, going cheap?
