Planning on fishing upper bay for stripers 21st weekend with two older gentlemen. As a backup wind/tough fishing was thinking of Chester for catfish? How far up for productive fishing? Any boat ramps upstream? Tight lines all!

I have no idea on the Chester fishing conditions right now.

There are catfish in the Chester in large numbers. There is access by boat upstream but a little dependent on your boat size. Google Queen Anne's County boat ramps and Kent County boat ramps.

I launch my 23 SE Parker at the Centreville ramp on the Corsica River (a tributary of the Chester).

Just a heads-up, we are now in the May 16-31 period. According to DNR's striped bass maps StripedBassRegs05-16_05-31P.jpg (612×792) (maryland.gov) , you can do catch and release fishing for stripers in the lower end of the Chester River. But the areas upstream from the Kent Narrows area remain off limits for targeting stripers. If you do want to fish for stripers, make sure you are in a legal area.

Also, once you land and retain a legal striper in an open area, it would not be legal to fish in any area closed to harvest with one in the cooler--there is no way to document that it was harvested in a legal area.

It can be a challenging time of year to be in legal compliance!

Thanks will look into centerville
ramp. Appreciate regs but Chesapeake is easy compared to Raritan which I usually fish. With this crazy wind wanted to look into plan b with the old fellers
