When I went on my account and saw my carry permit was approved I went to the HQL page filed training exempt and logged my carry permit number and my HQL was approved the next morning. Somebody must have been working night shift or something. That was a few months ago.
Well, wear and carry permit approvals sped WAY up at same time HQLs slowed way down, so I'm guessing they shifted folks over to clear one backlog, creating another.
After last weeks hearing I suspect HQL is going away soon. Only took 10 years for court case to work it's way through...
Intrigued! The only reason I haven’t purchased a new regulated firearm is because of the HQL.

I'm getting a lot older. My biggest concern is somebody grabbing my Granddaughter and running. I'm not going to chase much of anyone down. I can barely catch a 2 year old. I just went to buy a Dress Jacket and I'm between 4-5XL. Anything motorcycle related 6XL. Burly Biker types for scale.
FYI - I took a weekend class to satisfy both the HQL and HGP requirements - Jan 28 and 29. Both apps were submitted Jan 30.
My HQL was approved February 15th. I went to Molly's and bought a SW22 Victory to play and plink with...will also teach my girls to shoot with. I have 2 Beretta's I purchased in 2012 before the 10 round magazines went into effect...9mm and 40. I'm looking at the SS P365 in either 380 or 9mm for a carry piece, assuming I'm approved. I'd like to eventually get the CX4 Beretta carbine in 9mm since I'm well stocked on 9mm ammo and the mags are interchangable with my pistol. Then I can't justify any more!
I haven't read this entire thread, but it's important to note, MD is not a stand your ground state....you have a duty to retreat. Just FYI.
I got an email on 3/13 that my HGP was "Assigned for Background Investigation" and it included the contact info for the investigator. I was told they can't take longer than 90 days total. I'm about halfway to the 90 now.
If anyone is interested, I have a friend from high school who teaches these courses in Ridgely (Eastern Shore) on certain weekends for $300.....you get all the required classroom hours and also shoot at Schrader's.
