I am going to crimp all of my parachutes and lures to the leader this year with the thought that crimping givesthe lure the ability pivot and wobble where it attachs to the leader. This allows for more action and I also think it will help shake off jellyfish in the spring. I'm I correct in thinking this?

I'm with you.

I agree and crimp my 50 lb. + leaders.
If you be pulling a spoon at times on the same rod throw a swivel or wind-on swivel in there some where to reduce the line twist. I have more faith in crimps than knots in heavier line and find them faster to wrk with.

Been tying direct for years and never had a problem with my "action". If I did you certainly wouldn't know it by the number of fish that come over my gunnel. :D

BTW: if anything the square end of the crimp tends to collect more trash than a knot ;-)

I really don't think you will see much more action with a crimped loop.
Be sure to inspect the loop for wear and it is a very good idea to cut the loop off and re crimp after a big fish is caught or after 5-6 regular sized ones.

The loop can wear through and often it is hard to see because the lure hook eye will conceal the chafing until it is too late.

I doubt crimps will shed jellies (snot) any better then a knot. When they get really thick- a Tony #19 or #21 is best. These spoons seem to shed snot fairly well. Most times the snot will catch on the line and travel down to the knot at the lure.A crimp will still catch this mess- no way around it.

I have a crimper but only have it for the cutters in case of an accident. I use a loop knot for chutes which is easier than crimping. Only way to keep snot off the lures is to check them often.
