Hello fishermen,
I was out fishing a couple weekends ago on a charter and have a couple questions, comments. When you book an all day charter for rocks ($800) does that really mean when you get your limit? We could have just spent $500 for a half day. We fished way southeast, if you get my drift. Caught our limit quick and got the heck out of there.Back at 1030. We had our limit of 16 fish. I counted the fish as we took them off the boat, 16 fish. After paying the Capt. we went to the office to pay for the fish cleaning. There were now only 12 fish in the cart to be cleaned and the capt. cant be found. Fish cleaner stated that was all that was given to him. Does the capt. get those 4 fish? If so I wish he would have asked or told us about it.
I have fished many boats before and havent had any of these issues. Capt. was yelling at us most of the time we were out there. Not our fault the mate had never worked that boat before. We did most of his duties for him. We probally wont go with this cat again. Next year we are going to try Capt. Jake and/ or Kapoc.

Not a Good Experience!!

I have been yelled at by a couple captains out of Oregon Inlet and I have seen video of a screaming captain or two out of Rudee. Too bad they don't know the meaning of quality customer service or respect for others. If you are unhappy about the way you were treated, spread the word about them, so others won't have the same unfortunate experience.

Looks like you have already picked a couple of good possible boats for next time.

OK, I'll be the a$$hole here. You fished illegally, got your limit and the captains and the mates. And you're sore because you came back too early, and the captain and mate took their two fish? By the way, you'd been illegal on possession if you'd kept those other 4 fish. Sounds like you were lucky by having some fish and no ticket. Just think you could have fished legally all day long and have caught nothing.

Rude,
Thats just what I was thinking. He was going back out with another crew. His boat was gone when we went back to ask about the fish.

Kevin Smith- I dont want to name his boat, but he will read this thread on this board and will hopefully think about how he handled himself.

Darren- I would have rather fished all day and caught nothing. $800 bucks is alot of fish at Price club. Maybe all day I would have gotten my monies worth.
Thanks ,
Wyatt

Wyatt, unfortunately, there are a few not so great Charter boats out there, but a whole lot of good ones. I run a small Charter biz here in VB, and customer service is always #1.
The customers always take home the fish- even the ones that I "caught".
Good luck on your next trip.

Stinky..If you were fishing over the line be it the 3 mile or state and did knowing so and kept fish then are you really any better then the Capt..
not that I agree with the law but it is what it is..
It's your fault for not knowing the grounds rules before you left the dock, ask and ask some more the only stupid queston is the one not asked,
Oh by the way Capt Jake(matador) would be a great choice....but with him or anybody eles you still need to clear the air before the charter what you are looking for, what happens after the limit, most all boats troll thats not a C & R sport,is there another option to fish with the box full, like light tackle C & R,
Some things are better left in the dark like this post, live and learn..
Good luck hope your next charter is what you want...

id tell the capt. right now you want a half day refund cause you only fished half a day. That would be fair. Ifin i paid for all day id be a fishin all day.catching your limit only means you cant keep any more. If he dont refund the difference tell him you will post about it here. that will change his tune.

where did you get a full day charter for 800? we need more details on the trip. how much does a half day cost with that boat? VBFC is advertising half days for 700 and full days for 1200. most marinas say the the trip ends "when the box is full or at the captains discretion"
