Myself and a couple of spearo buddies went down to Duck, NC, arriving mid morning or so diving the area, but it was a bust. Visibility was 3ft at most, and all we saw were blue crabs. No steel slinging action, unfortunately. Water was in the mid 60's with a moderate current and we dove for about 2 hours overall. I was using my Mares Cyrano 700 and had hopes of bloodying the shaft on opening day, but it was not to be for me or my fellow spearos. We left there and made our way up to Chincoteague to see about some potential shore diving spots, but needed an overland permit to get to where we wanted. Next time we'll check it out more thoroughly.
