I know Puggs has his documented, anyone else?

I currently have my boat registered in Delaware, as I did the old boat. Since I'll be keeping it in a different marina where it's subjected to more eyes I'm thinking about documenting it to avoid registering in MD and paying the sales tax.

Eric, mine is documented.A word of wisdom to you, theres no getting away from the taxes. In these days of computer and other technological advances like Sat Pics, its just a matter of time. When they do catch up the penalties are retroactive and hurt your ASS!! I know cause they got me 2 years ago.You are a sitting duck with yours being on a trailer when out of the water, its still considered readily usable and its allowed in state for 30 days.Even after you have a vessel documented you still have to have a "Use" Sticker for Md that shows you paid your tax.Your best bet would be for the seller to fill out the "bill of sale" form that the DNR has and list the sale price a bit lower and then have it notarized. They have no choice then but to accept what the sale price was.

Its called sales tax when we had the worked boat built years ago, it was documented and we still had to pay the tax, its no getting around it.

Eric, one more item I forgot. You only have 30 days from the date of sale to take care of the sales tax,so make sure you have the dates adjusted accordingly to avoid the penalties.
I registered it in Delaware at the time of sale. So I would be transferring registration I guess...
