Will be headed to the concert tomorrow but got a couple questions. It appears that ticketmaster is offering better seating now than when I purchased tix a couple weeks ago. Is this because they hold some tix out? I have never been in the Hampton Colliseum. We are in Mezz V in row 7, will this view be okay or should I consider trading up (if this is even a possibility?)

I was reading a post a guy made on another web site where he was complaining about concert tickets.

I can not remember the name of the band but they were playing somewhere in Boston.
He tried to buy top of the line tickets and he was told they were not available.

He found out that Ticketmaster has it's own company that buys them and than resells them at a priumum price.

Maybe they were going to do the same for this concert and changed their mind ??

Here is that guys post.

"Is it just me, or does anyone else think there should be legislation that bans ticket resellers? Even Ticketmaster has it's own company that buys up all the tickets and resells them anywhere from twice to over 10X the face value. And they have the stones to display the price right next to the even that you're trying get tickets for. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is just corporate scalping and it should be done away with, IMHO. Venues have to realize that it eats away at their concession sales if only 80% of the people show up to a "sold out" event. It's one thing to buy a hard to find item and sell it a high price because of demand, but with tickets, they are a one-time event and they become worthless after the event has passed."

Blocks of tickets are held for companies, and yes- the re-sellers-- The venue holding the event does not care who shows up, just how many tickets are sold and total$$$- You see this more common now especially with online ticket bidding, ebay, etc. This ultimately effects the local people in the area where the even is held when it comes to purchasing tickets in advance- But as the even drawers nearer you will see better tickets come available and at a higher price- I tried to get Dave Mathews tickets when he last played in C'ville and the tickets sold out in less than 14 minutes- needless to say i never even got through to get tickets- 2 weeks before the show and i find a ticket broker locally who has 75 tickets on the floor- They do need to restrict the # of tickets sold to re-sellers and all, but the $$$'s become the root of all evil- Just my thoughts

I was not aware of the Eagles concert but I bet it will be awesome- Have fun

Thanks for the responses guys. I bought the tix from the Hampton Colliseum link to ticket master....it appeared that this was the primary distributor for the event. I don't think I was charged a service fee...straight $165. My issue is when I used the "best available" option it is coming up with better tix now than it did two weeks ago. Maybe it's the computers fault.

I am thinking that the resellers put some tickets back into the system. Just a guess.

The previous post regrding stage setup is dead on. Also, the band puts holds on tickets for fan club, family, friends, relative, etc and once they know for sure how many they actually need, they will relase those tickets usually 1-2 days prior to the event. Have a good friend that works at Live Nation and he has explained this whole thing to me in great detail.

went to this concert tonight and it was AWESOME.. i'm sure others will chime in and agree.
I agree....they rocked the house and Joe Walsh can still light up a guitar. What a collection of talent. They played around 3 hours with a short break in the middle. I was surprised they played Hotel California so early and ended with Desperado but no complaints here. Did try to upgrade the tix but no luck.

Are they using walkers and wheel chairs to get on stage?
Fantastic show. 3 hours of quality musicianship (I think that's a word). I would have liked to hear more of the classics but then again the new stuff is pretty good also.

Bryanfish, Glenn Frey did call it the "Geriatric Tour" or something like that. It was funny though, It was the first concert I've been to where gray hair and bald spots (including mine) ruled. :D
