Are you asking about fall trolling for 18-36 inchers or late fall/winter trolling for 32 - 50 inchers ?

If you want fish- umbrellas with a small lure (Storm , bucktail/6'' shad) are the way to go.These aren't alot of fun but will produce fish. Most times the Rock will be down 15-25 feet so you need to use a heavy in line sinker.

Try 200 ' w 8ozs
175' w 12
150' w 16
100 w 20
75' w 20
This spread should get you fish.Chart seems to work better then white but try both colors.

You can also use single or tandem lures instead of umbrellas.

Right now -I'll pull 7-9 rods.Once the bigger Rock show up - then the planer boards come out and I'll troll 17-22 rods.

Skip- if Polarized had answered 32-50" late in the fall....how would you have answered that? Do you ever go between those two answers?

Oriole - most times I troll for either the big Rock or the smaller ones.Tough to mix it up for both.Now/then we catch a small one while trolling for big ones and vice versa.

For the bigger Rock- I put out my springtime spread with a few adjustments.Once I see what the fish want ( each year seems different) - I'll fine tune the spread.

1 320' 13/0 CA spoon w 4-6 oz parachute
boards (each carrys 6 lines)

2 - 100' 2 oz single parachute
3 - 80' same
4 - 70' same
5 - 60' same
6- 50' same
7- 50' same
other board

8-100' daisy chain
9- 100' tandem 2/4 oz
10 -80' tandem 2/6
11- 70' tandem 2/6
12- 60 ' tandem 2/6
13-45' tandem 2/6

#14/15 Down riggers @ 25 and 35 to start.Umbrellas/spoons or daisy chains.

#16/17 Wire outfits (Off side) 100' with 20oz MoJo and Bunker spoons

#18/19/20 Boat rods off the transom. Two @ 200' back- umbrellas /Tony #21 with a 6 oz parachute

One rod back 150' with a 16 oz MoJo and a bucktail.

I mix up alot of lures/colors to start the season.Never know what they will hit.One year it was silver spoons- next year was yellow bucktails.

In the above diagram: 1&2 and 3&4 are inversely proportional. Also, run a wwwwb (shotgun) - 7 & 8 are short deep... Sorry for the mix up.
