This rod was given to me by my buddy Dave for a strip-down, new paint job and rewrap a while back, and my slow arse has finally gotten around to finishing it up. This is an older Fenwick fiberglass rod, but is very light for what it is. Certainly not bad for a yard sale
find. This came out a lot better than I expected. Kevin you weren't kidding that a couple coats of finish will hide whatever cracks you have. Went simple with the guide wraps to let the abalone stand out. Definitely diggin' it. :clap::thumbup:

That looks awesome. Now you will find that each time that you use the veneer, it will get easier and will apply with less mess and less cracking.
