I worked the shorelines in Weems Creek (both sides; above and below the two bridges) this afternoon. I caught a single white perch -- not impressive by itself, but it represents the advance guard of the white perch invasion. This matches up well with my first perch caught in the Severn for the past few years. Typically that happens about the second week in May.

The perch was fooled by the ultimate perch lure -- a Woody's feather spinner in 1/8-oz size. I had a small pickerel on my very first cast of the day near the ramp into Weems.

I saw a friend of mine pull 2 from the Academy seawall in about 5ft of water on bloodworms. Personally, I feel like the fish take 1 week after the initial arrival before they will hammer lures.
