Need help with a fish ID...Caught near HRBT...as best as I could guess is baby sturgeon?...thanks..that same day caught 3 stargazers...fortunately had heard from others on the board not to touch them...

you will know when you catch a sturgeon, they kinda prehistoric looking and their dorsal fin is back by the tail. you got yourself a lizard fish

Thanks...

...it was slippery...so maybe it was that slippery preacher's fishy thing...:rolleyes: I think lizard fish wins out...

lizardfish for sure. I caught my first one last summer 2007 on a bass assassin outside of Pt Lookout, Md.
I went through this same thing - asking people what it was. Kinda cool fish to add to my species list.

Lizard fish. I once saw a guy land a really huge one. He was scared of it, and was letting it die before tackling it. Turns out, it was the biggest one anyone had ever heard of. Naked Goby, who worked with the MD DNR said it might have been a record. I hated learning that, seeing that the guy killed it.
