FYI for everyone

The Maryland Chapter of Trout Unlimited (MDTU), an action-based environmental organization of anglers, will kick off its 40th anniversary year with a celebration featuring sport fishing legend and author Bernard “Lefty” Kreh on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at the Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 West Chesapeake Avenue.

The event is free and open to the public.

MDTU has a proud history of protecting and enhancing the cold water resources in Maryland, including the establishment of a wild trout fishery in the Gunpowder River and protecting the headwaters of Jones Falls, the most productive wild trout stream in Maryland.
Lefty Kreh has been an avid supporter of the chapter over the years, instrumental in its growth and effectiveness.

The evening event will begin with a social time with refreshments, opportunities to purchase anniversary souvenirs, meet some of the chapter’s charter members, and swap fishing tales. Following the social time, Lefty will treat the audience to his “Tips and Tricks for Fly Fishing,” a collection of valuable information and advice gathered over a lifetime. Attendees are encouraged to come early for a good seat.

Trout Unlimited’s mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. TU accomplishes this mission on local, state and national levels with an extensive and dedicated volunteer network from the organization’s 125,000 members in 500 chapters nationwide who keep active and involved in conservation issues. MDTU, the first Trout Unlimited chapter in Maryland, was founded in 1972 and currently has more than 700 members in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan Area.

Brandon, thanks for posting this. It should be a great night. I just wanted to highlight that this meeting is a different location than past meetings: Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 West Chesapeake Avenue.
