Simple question to anyone that uses a fluid bed, be it homeade or bought somewhere.

Do you find that some colors of powder paint just don't "fluidize" as well as others? I am using pro-tec powder paints and no matter what i do, the yellow chartreuse just does not flow like the white. The yellow chart just seems thicker, heavier, and just does not bubble. The same brand (pro tec) in white works great.

Has anyone else had the same problem???

Mike-
I have noticed that a few colors are a little more "compacted" than others... black, and yellow chart (and pink and orange to a lesser degree) are a little harder to get going, but if you put the lid on, and shake the cup to loosen things up, it helps to lmake it fluffy, and flow well. If you are still having problems, take the material, and put it into a sealant applicator bottle (soft sided bottle, with a needle opening), and squeeze the powder through the bottle, and into the cup. This is relatively time consuming, but it will be very loose, and should flow well after that.

Your air may not be coming through the chamber properly, it needs even disbursement to fluidize otherwise you may only have pockets of air coming through in a few spots. Even at that try a flat paint stirrer to get it started, that may help

Make sure your air is flowing good , one other thing is to add a Nut or bolt to your cups and shake very hard for a few seconds prior to use.
One other thing make sure your powder paints are not getting any moisture in them, store the cups in a container with desiccant bags in it. I don't keep my paints in the cups anymore because of this problem with certain paints,I will put them in a cleaned fresh cup prior to coating and have eliminated this issue all together. When I'm finished I put the paints back in their original container then blow the cups out with a air gun this keeps the cups clean and ready for your next adventure. If I can help with anything else please feel free to ask.
