Plan A today was to head to Germany to fish the river for the first time this year.
I had hoped that the wind would die down today but I still could hear the wind howling this morning.

I opted to go for plan B which was fishing the harbor in the town I work.
Main target was perch so I took my 4-weight superfine rod plus some small zonker streamers with me.

My usual good spots where pretty useless today, the strong wind had kicked up so much silt that visibility was minimal.
I received not a single hit on the fly as I probed the walls and docks of the harbor.
As a last ditch effort I tried the dead end stretch at the courthouse.

When I tossed a streamer near a bridge I saw fish following so my hopes where up.
After a while I began to catch the perch, the majority very small but there where also some nice one among them.
Not bad for a day with rotten weather.

Thanks for the report from across the Pond. I remember a perch report you posted a couple of years ago or more showing perch you caught that were a couple inches bigger than anything we have here in the USA, like maybe 15"-16" long They were hugely fat too, built like footballs (not the Europian football but our football, the ball with the pointy ends). I still remember that report. I'm guessing your yellow perch are the same species we have here. Do you still have that pic on file somewhere? I'd like to see it again... dang they were nice perch.

Yup, we've got them to but slightly different.
Other similar fish are Northern pike which is just called pike on our side of the
pond (only one species).
Furthermore the counterpart to the Walleye is called Pikeperch down here

Marcel - Thanks for looking but that's not the "huge perch" pic I was thinking of. I swear it was a pic that you had posted... but then again maybe not. Age is addling my brain. After more thought, the pic I was thinking off may have been posted more than a couple years ago, maybe many years ago. Anyway, thanks for trying.
