Wife and I are heading to Fort Lauderdale the end of Feb and looking for any suggestions on lodging and fishing. Since its just the 2 of us, i don't think we could afford to charter a boat ourselves. We would have to split or find a smaller boat. Thanks in advance!

There are several party boats (head boats) that make 1/2 day or full day trips from each inlet up and down the South Florida coast. I have gone on several different ones over the year. It is pretty relaxing, plus you never know what type of fish will come over the rails.

Went there a few years ago and stayed in a hotel that overlooked the marina.

The boats do not go far out and this time of year you can often work out a deal with a boat.Take cash  and see what they are willing to do.I went for $300.00 but had to buy the bait. $50.00 for a dozen Google Eyes but that is the going rate.Fished for Sailfish with kites - really cool.

Never hurts to ask the hotel bartender - they often know the boat owners.

We usually go to FtL/Pompano Bch in mid Feb....but not this year. Stuck here building our house.

We book with this guy every year...price is right and we always catch fish!!!
The Fishin Fool - Pompano Beach Fishing At It's Best!

He is in Pompano Beach @ 20 min. north of Ft. L. He only trolls, but we have taken LT gear and have been able to troll thru the intercoastal with LT. I hooked a cuda last year on the way back in, but got cut off. Still, have always had a good time with him.

Let me know if ya need any other info!

Across from the Sheraton Yankee Clipper is a circle which contains
several efficiancy motels, pretty cheap rates, and walking distance
to some charter boats, large and small docked on the intrcoastal side
but not far from the channel to the ocean, there is even a small CG
station there.
You would be just a few miles south of Lauderdale By The Sea,they
have a fishing pier there, also is a cool little neighborhood sports bar
called Ocean Blue, great food and if a tourist makes it in,good for them,
had to be word of mouth.
I lived in the little ring of motels by the Yankee Clipper about ten years
ago, fiberglassing by day, party by night, that's why I had to move back
to VA,to much fun.
Any where around the Yankee Clipper is good, top of the line hotels and
restaurants, and if you like to PARTY,you got visit The Elbow Room,or at
least walk by.
The glass windows slide into the wall making it an open-air kinda bar and
they close long enough to hose the place down, let it dry,and start serving
again.

Dang Mike, thanks for the memories. My buddies and I drove from Md to Ft Lauderdale every spring break. We hit the Button, Elbo Room and Shooters. Those days were OFF THE HOOK:D
Man if I could do that again:devil2::rockingman2:

Thanks for the replies. Is fishing good close to shore end of Feb? Is it worth heading to Key Largo? What's good this time of year?
You're always close to [email protected] 1 mile out, you're in 150', 2 miles out you're in 500' and 3 miles out you're in 1000'...give or take. We've never been more than 3 miles off shore. This time of year, you can catch King Mack's, Dolphin, Black-fin tuna, barracuda and Sailfish. I'm sure there are other species, but that's what we've caught (minus the sail---tried for it but NADA). The Helen S goes out of Hillsmere (??) inlet as well...strictly bottom fishing. I've never been on it, but she goes out just about every day.

Good Luck!!!

BTW- if ya need some good eatin places...let me know!!!
