There is a new website where you can download NOAA charts of the Chesapeake Bay. These are the real deal government charts and are organized in "booklet" form which makes them very convenient to store and use abord a small boat. For instance, the chart for my home waters on the Chester River is broken down into 12 pages 8 1/2" x 11" which fits into a standard report binder you can get at any stationery supplier.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or higher in order to view and print the charts. This program is free from Adobe. It will be a big help to have a high speed internet connection and, of course, a color printer to get the best results.

This is an experimental program the government is trying so you might want to take advantage of it before it is gone. There is a way to e-mail NOAA on the home page to tell them what you think about the experiment. Maybe if we have a positive response they will decide to continue the service and perhaps expand it to other areas.[smile]
