Decided we'd hold on to our lay days form this morning and try to make it out, automatically making today a fishing day. Came through the Lesner still pitch black at about 5:20, pretty nasty trying to make it over to Fisherman's Island. Took a wave over the bow of my cousins 23' Pursuit :eek2: near the end of the channel markers and decided to hurry back to the dock to get the paper work to Rudee by the 7AM deadline. Looks like we're going fingers crossed for tomorrow and Sunday. If anybody get's out today let me know how it goes.

Hopefully wed sadness, loosing 2 fisherman, makes everyone think twice and play it safe. I would never regret dying doing something I love, fishing, but there are way to many fish waiting for me to catch them first before I go. Can't wait to get out there again. Martin

I wouldn't have even hooked the boat! Not going to give you props at all. You could've been a stat. I have a 26'ter and wouldn't have even considered it. F a tournament really!

But hey your da man for trying! NOT!:eek2::helpsmilie:

Hey, let's not start acting like we've never tried to go out in sporty conditions...... even if it's summer time. Billy, like going through OI in not so great conditions or running offshore and having to make it back through bad thunderstorms. Anyone that runs offshore has the potential for bad conditions that can turn life threatening, anyone can say that running offshore is rolling the dice and they just don't go because of the fear factor. Not too many fair weather fishermen on here.

Brian never would've have done it yesterday in those conditions! I don't care where it was! See it's different when you know the conditions before going out than being caught in them. But hey give him an A+ for effort.

Quite a few days not that many years ago, we used to fish in 20-30 NW, N & NE in my 25 sailfish just because we enjoyed it and there was never anyone else around.
I remember one really nasty day we left Kiptopeake on Sunday morning ( as we had to get back ) and it was a little more "Sporty" than I would normally have gone out in. ( Persistance was right beside me that day) .

So I think many of us have ventured out for one reason or another on days that would not be considered safe for most crafts.
