I have been hunting hard since Oct 1st. Been bit by mosquitos, ticks, ground bees. My truck has been a total wreck of hunting clothes, ammo, bug spray, drinks and crackers. Went here when I should of been there, you know the drill. Dog hunting every Sat with my club, still hunted every afternoon I could and did it all with my 2 boys when they could go. Only killed 3 this year, let a lot walk hoping for something better. Guess I will be chasing the bushy tails now. Richard A

Yea the bushy tails will keep you busy for awhile and will kinda take away the shock of not going deer hunting. Give it a few days and you will miss going but when you see a nice buck while bushy tail hunting it really hits ya.

Well I'm not ready for it to be over. This is the least I have hunted in a long time. I took 2 weeks to bow hunt and it down poured the whole first week. Saw alot of scubs and small does but I was looking for horns. I did get a nice 6 pt opening day of blackpowder but I missed all of Nov gun season except for 2 half days due to commitments w/ my BBQ business and a cousin getting married. Who the hell gets married in huntin season! In fact I really didn't get into the woods until the 2nd Sat in Dec and by that time the club had pretty much wiped out all of the deer on our property. I hunted almost everyday the last 2 weeks and although the club did kill a few I didn't see the first deer in front of a dog the whole 2 weeks. Richard, I think we hunted the powerline peice and Ducks everyday. The only deer I saw was 1 doe on a man drive that came out of a thicket w/ afterburners on high and jumped the neighbors fence. I took two long pop shots at her w/ no luck. I guess I'm glad dog season is over. It's fun for a while but I'd rather still hunt. I actually can't wait til Oct. Bring on bow season!!

If you think about it, hunting never ends. Now we have to take down stands, prep for new stands, do some shed hunting and get ready for next year. I took a nice 8 pointer with the bow and 3 does during the dog season. My son bagged a doe on Thanksgiving day and missed acouple others. All in all a great season and looking forward to next year because I had to miss my annual trip to Kentucky and will be going back this fall.
