Hey guys,

I am new to this forum and wondering if you all could help me out. I am going fly fishing in Florida, during June and July, and was wondering what you all would recommend.

Thanks

Florida is a big state where in particular?
Islamorada and Marathon. Sorry[grin]
Islamorada and Marathon. Sorry.[grin]
Tarpon fishing will be in full swing down there in the summer. There are plenty of great guides down there that can recommend the gear you should bring. I would sure charter a guide down there for the best opportunities. Channel Two and Five bridges are famous for their tarpon fishing.

When will you be there? I am going from June 11-18 in Islamorada. We have had little succes in all our ventures.

If you fly fish bring your gear, you can always get a guide and go out, they know the area really well.

If you're bringing your boat and its not for the flats I wouldn't recommend messing around as you may get stuck.

Send me an email and I can discuss more. I have been there 3 times and this will be my 4th.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Tim
I was there at Marathon in April. Had a fantastic time!. Went out in the flats with Buddy LaPointe http://www.fishin-buddy.com/. He is in grassy Key which is between Marathon and Islamorada.

You cannot go 5 miles there without passing a boat rental place and its only about 10 miles between tackle shops too.

I ate at Herbies and Porkies in Marathon and loved both places.

Have fun!
Thanks for your advice guys![grin][smile][grin][smile][excited][excited][excited][excited][excited][excited][excited]
The Tackle Box at mile marker 58 (I Think) in Marathon is a nice family run shop with lots of advice, tackle, and live bait. They also book charters. I think they are online. Search on thetacklebox.com or The Tackle Box + Marathon Florida

I just returned from Naples on the west coast yesterday. If you head over that waiy let me know, because thr are a lot of snook to be caught from the beaches in the morning and evening.

Have a great trip.
Make sure you stop in at Robbie's in Islamorada to feed the tarpon! Neat place.
