The Starship's 44 Hour Middle Grounds trip departed on Friday night at the tail end of a cold front passing through; the weatherman predicted good weather for Saturday and Sunday. We went to the north end of the Middle Grounds and had a steady pick of large Mangrove Snapper and Gag Grouper until sun up. As the seas flattened we moved further west to a deep water wreck and had a good charge of gag grouper up to 37lbs and some small amberjacks. During Saturday almost every stop produced a steady pick of Mangrove Snapper & Gag Grouper, with some Red Grouper mixed in. At sun down we made a drop in 130' of water which produced many American Red Snapper, up to approx. 25lbs and large Mangrove Snapper and Gag Grouper and a Cobia weighing approx. 35lbs.

Lee Tinter won the Grouper pool with a 37lb. Black Grouper; Greg Kurpita, of Jensen Beach, FL, took the Snapper pool with a 8.75lb. Mangrove Snapper and Tony Muia took the AJ pool with a 29lb'er.

Overall we had a fantastic weekend, great fishing and great weather! We are hoping the same for this coming weekend's trip and the fast approaching Special American Red Snapper Trips on 4/20, 4/22, 4/27 & 4/29.

The Starship's crew is preparing for a marathon of trips coming up. In addition to our usual 44 Hr Middle Grounds trips, next week starts the Special American Red Snapper trips. The trips on April 20th and 22nd are SOLD OUT! We still have a few openings on the April 27th and 29th trips though, so get your reservations in ASAP. Captain Rich and the crew are really looking forward to the 60 Hr Deep Water Iron Man & Wreck Hunt on May 17th. It's more than 1/2 way filled up and limited to only 40 passengers so don't wait too long to call in your spot.
