I'll never forget my favorite Marine buddy, he was an Irishman, from Belfast...he moother sent'em from Ireland to liff with is auntie in Boston to get his ass away from the war and the IRA...his two brothers had been killed while serving in the IRA...so what does he do when he turns 18? He joins the Bloody United States Marines, he said...I been fightin all me life on the streets of Belfast, in Boston, in the schools...Now the Marines are gonna teach me how to rage a WARRRR...Sean Patrick Murphy..it doesn't get more Irish than that...When he'd get drunk (often, very often, but he could drink like a fish) he'd shout..."Tis' a Fine day in the Bloody Marine Corps...where everyday's a holiday and every meals a feast...."

Happy Birthday boys. I do love them Marines.

USMC and USN Rules of Engagement
USMC

1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns.

2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.

3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.

4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough nor using cover correctly.

5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. [Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.]

6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.

7. Ten years from now, no one will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.

8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running.

9. Accuracy is relative. [Most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun.]

10. Use a weapon that works every time. [All skill is in vain when an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket.]

11. Someday someone may kill you with your own weapon, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

12. Always cheat; always win. If you walk away, it was a fair fight. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

13. Always have a plan.

13.1 Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.

14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. The visible target should be in FRONT of your gun.

15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.

16. Don't drop your guard.

17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.

18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. [In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them].

19. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.

20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.

21. Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

22. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.

23. Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

USN

1. Adopt an aggressive offshore posture.

2. Drink coffee.

3. Send in the Marines.

Thanks for the B-Day gifts! Served from 96-2k, have many a buddies still serving and fighting for us. For those that have not made it to see another Marine Birthday, I give my deepest sympathy too their family and friends, to those that are still with us, I say, keep up the good fight and ask one simple question:

WHAT MAKES THE GRASS GROW???!!!

Something only Marines normally know!
