Hope everyone is having a good holiday season.

I've been pretty busy with family stuff the past couple months.

I had given Paul a website to get rod holders and after seeing them on his boat at the CBBT I decided they were the ones to get. I ordered 6 for the Mako and they are a great deal. You can't beat the price, even Paul said they were a better deal than he could get at Boaters World with his discount. I was very surprised that they only charged me 19.78 for shipping from Miami!

Eric,I have some Taco clamp ons now that swivel and they work OK.My problem is where I have to clamp them is on my tower legs which are angled. They break in the middle of the plate after it fatigues a little.I had a great experience with Taco on the issue, they gave me credit towards the ones I have now even though I bought them at a flea market.Lees on the other hand I bought new and they didnt want to make good on any part of it.After Lees failed to step up I figured what the heck do I have to lose but a phone call to Taco and a few days later I had a box on the front porch with a nice hand written letter inside thanking me for my patience and understanding and asked me to let them know how they worked out for me.I called them back at the end of last season to tell them of a few shortcomings that Im sure are due to my specific application.Again a few weeks pass and on my porch again was another box from Taco, inside were 4 new weld on holders and another letter telling me that these were on the house and thats the only other option left they could figure out for me.I was shocked and surprised to see how they treated me when they really didnt owe me squat.

I found that if you have to mount a less than desirable position (subject to fatique) it is OK to use as long as you dont run full speed with a heavy rod in it. I learned that lesson as well with a crappy perko rod holder. The through bolt snapped. The other one on the bridge is fine but we dont run with a rod in it since that happened. Thats where we believe most of the fatique came from. Lots of pounding. 12 lb of drag on the rod while fishing shouldnt break that weld in my opinion. But if you expect heavy seas and pounding I think Will is right that you want the web in line with the loading.
